Grand Prix of Great Britain
Experience the pulse of racing up close
The Great Britain Grand Prix™ is the heart of Formula 1® - a race full of speed, tradition and pure racing passion. On the legendary Silverstone Circuit, drivers compete on fast corner combinations, long straights and iconic sections such as Maggotts, Becketts and Copse. Hardly any other track demands courage, precision and rhythm as uncompromisingly as Silverstone.
High average speeds, intense duels and changeable weather conditions make the British Grand Prix one of the most exciting races of the season. When the Formula 1®cars race at top speed around the former airfield and thousands of fans shake the grandstands, an atmosphere is created that celebrates motorsport in its purest form.
History & Tradition
The Great Britain Grand Prix™ occupies a unique position in motorsport: the first Formula 1® WorldChampionship race was held at Silverstone in 1950. Since then, the circuit has been inextricably linked with the history of the premier class and is still regarded as one of its most legendary stages.
Numerous icons of the sport - from Jim Clark to Nigel Mansell and Lewis Hamilton - have celebrated unforgettable victories here in front of a home crowd. Silverstone has modernized over the decades without losing its character: fast, uncompromising and tradition-conscious. The British Grand Prix is no ordinary race - it is the origin and emotional center of Formula 1®.
